Dorothy Williams Bratton scrapbook, 1953-2002 (bulk, 1953-196u).

Scrapbook volume, ca. 1953-1960s, and funeral programs (1986, 2001, 2002) documenting cultural life, specifically opera, musical theater, and choral performances staged in various venues around the state; other items reflect her membership in music clubs and organizations active during mid-20th century; includes newspaper clippings, ephemera, programs, a single issue, ca. 1954, of the Opera Club News listing officers and activities, and several letters from the Laurel Street USO (United Service Organizations) in Columbia, S.C. Venues around the state represented include Dock Street Theatre (Charleston, S.C.), McClenaghan High School (Florence, S.C.), and in Columbia, S.C.: Dreher High School, Columbia College, the Laurel Street USO and a production with the Fort Jackson Drama Club (includes program and ticket stub, July 1-3, 1957, from a production of Light up the Sky, by Moss Hart). Several funeral programs include biographical sketches of local musicians: John Hills (1919-2002), a fellow opera singer with whom Bratton performed; Margarette Richards (1901-2001), professor of music at various colleges, and daughter of S.C. Gov. John G. Richards; and John Richards McCrae (1919-1986), with whom Bratton studied, and who directed her in multiple productions (The Gondoliers, 1956; Cosi Fan Tutte, 1955; The Old Maid and The Thief, and Down in the Valley, 1955).
